Learning American Sign Language is a prudent and rewarding investment, particularly for cannabis users. If you value your privacy, ASL is your best bet. You can practically speak without making a sound, which comes in handy when smoking marijuana. The best part is that a lot of stoner lingo transfers into sign language. So prepare to express yourself. Language, whether new or old, is connection, and we’re talking about marijuana. Put on your thinking cap and free up your hands with that in mind! It’s time to brush up on your ASL for stoner slang.
Stoned
Left hand – Place your other hand in front of you, palm down, in a relaxed position.
Begin by pointing at your temple with your right hand. Trace a line away from your face at a 45-degree downward angle, moving your fingers as if pinching. Move your right hand to the top of your left, fingers pointing down.

Make a ‘V’ shape with your index and middle fingers and bring it up to the bottom right corner of your lower lip. Twice tap your chin.
Nota Bene – When signing smoke, you may be tempted to adjust your finger positions to simulate how you hold a joint. Don’t do it since you’ll be signing dry cannabis flower instead of smoke.
Heavy smoker/toker
A variety of motions are used to signify a heavy toker/smoker. Begin with the sign for smoke and then go on to the sign for heavy.
To form the heavy sign, open both hands and hold them palms up in front of you. Lift and drop both hands about a foot while keeping your palms open. Make this motion again.
Extract
When you want to be exact, there are many ASL alternatives for this word. The sign for tooth extraction, for example, is essentially the same, only you gesture to your chin rather than your left hand.
Left Hand – Place your left hand in front of you in a relaxed position, palm down.
Make a ‘V’ with your right hand. Turn your palm towards your torso with your index and middle fingers. To begin, insert your right middle finger between your left hand’s knuckles. Pull the ‘V’ away from your body and curl the tips of your index and middle fingers inward.

Curl your other fingers towards your palm while extending your pinky and thumb.
Twist your wrists twice with your thumbs pointed up.
